Main Argument

Within my own personal research, I use feminist rhetoric to show the ways in which the use and practice of logical fallacy theory can perpetuate systems of power and oppression. Additionally, I give suggestions for ways that fallacies can be identified in a non-oppressive manner, and show that they are still important rhetorical tools.

I support this thesis in 3 main ways:

by examining who created fallacies and who decided what is fallacious

by analyzing how identifying fallacies in practice can cause alienation or silencing of certain groups of people and types of logic

by showing ways that logical fallacies can still be important and useful when used correctly
